Vocabulary Cards Activity 1

 

Objective:

Children to understand a storyline and sequence events in a story.

Activity/task:

Read story holding up laminated vocabulary cards as the word appears in the text. Children to re tell the story using cards. Can refer to own grid for support.

Year 1

Symbols used:

Grid of key vocabulary for 'Rosie's Walk' by Pat Hutchins. One set laminated and cut up. Grid not laminated for each pupil.

Outcome:

Excellent sequencing of landmarks Rosie passed. Children enjoyed using pictures to retell the story. The activity facilitated understanding and helped expression of the story.
