To be able to match and name animal pictures.

Group activity with adult.

Go through picture cards at start of game to make sure all can identify and explain how to play.

Group:

6 children 1 adult

Symbols used:

6 base cards printed off and laminated

3 sheets of picture cards laminated and cut out - these are placed in a pile and turned over in turn by the players.

Outcome:

All able to match picture to picture. Some unsure of label for eagle, gorilla, robin (said bird). Good discussion on different sorts of birds.

Talked about which animals Noah may have had in the Ark.

Expanded this to discuss which of the animals could be pets, which couldn't and why.

Really enjoyed playing game, wanted to have another go!

May be useful to have flash cards with word and symbol and word only to extend those children beginning to read.
