Symbols for Literacy
Symbols represent concepts
Symbols represent generic concepts that are understood by the reader.
They can be sequenced to build sentences from separate concepts.
When symbols are used for literacy it is important that they accurately represent the required concept and do not contain unnecessary or distracting information. It is especially important that the symbol does not represent a different concept - for example the use of a 'bee' for 'be' .
The Widgit Rebus Symbols have been designed specifically to support literacy.
