Activity/task:

Use Story structure board sentences as a guide to construct story. Record by copying the sentences. Add own sentences to fill out story. Read story to rest of group.

Story beginnings, story middles and story ends. Main board.

Outcome:

The children enjoyed using the board and selection of sentences to construct their stories. Being able to choose a story beginning gave them a good start. Once they had read the sentence suggestions they were able to use these as a guide and think of some themselves. Having the sentences with symbol support enabled all the children, including the poorer readers, to have a go.
